January 2023
My trip to San Marcos, Texas in January just happened to be the weekend beginning the Chinese New Year so we celebrated with a delicious Chinese take out meal. We spent some time looking at lots in the area on which I plan to build a “tiny home”. The rest of the week was fun and games with my granddaughter!
Our neighbors moved over one site and put a new park model on it. Soon their old trailer will be demolished, the site paved over, and then sold to a new owner. Wonder who our new neighbors will be????
February 2023
Thanks to the unusually high volume of rain this winter, February brought the start of another huge poppy bloom
(the last one was in 2019)
Joel’s ex-wife, Cindy, married her boyfriend, Paul – Congrats!!
And here come even MORE poppies!
The highlight of this month was the Princess Cruise to the Mexican Rivera that Joel booked for Roberta’s birthday! We left on Saturday, February 25th and returned on Saturday, March 3rd.
It was delightful!!!!!!!!!!
First stop was Cabo San Lucas. As we approached, the captain announced that whales are often seen in this area so we should be on the lookout for some. Sure enough, we saw a baby whale with its mom swimming around. The baby came up for air and Joel got a great picture of it.
A friend of Joel’s told us not to miss this place, and she was right – GREAT food!
We decided not to take any tours so we walked all over Cabo –
over 20 miles that day to be exact!
Of course the ship food was amazing – especially the desserts!
Mazatlan was our next stop.
As we walked around Mazatlan we found this park. This little plaza was a tribute to teachers. How appropriate =)
(And boy did I have the ice cream!)
March 2023
On Roberta’s actual birthday, March 1st, we docked
in Puerta Vallarta for the day.
A view of our ship from the dock – BIG isn’t she?
We took a local bus to the beach area, then walked around.
We ate my birthday lunch at another restaurant recommended to Joel by a friend. At the restaurant Roberta asked the mariachi group to sing Happy Birthday to her.
Lunch was delicioso!
Back on the ship at the end of the day, we were tired but content. Unfortunately, as soon as the ship was out of the harbor the weather turned quite cold and windy and the sea got pretty rough. The upper deck where we had been playing pickleball was closed for the rest of the cruise due to the bad weather =(
Casual or dressy, we enjoyed our week together immensely 💕
The rest of March was pretty ordinary.
Relaxing with the Polar Ice Cube wrapped on my shoulder as instructed by my orthopedic oncologist.
With all this rain it is so nice to see the creek doing its job so well 👌😁
Rain brings rainbows.
This one was on the I-15 northbound one day as I headed out.
And of course, MORE POPPIES!
See you next month………
